Hiking trail W420 Almsee - Hochpfad - Offensee - Steinkogel near Ebensee am Traunsee
"If I go on there now, I'll come to Offensee", it says on one of the original signposts from the Austrian Alpine Club. And it is actually the lakes - Almsee and Offensee that make the tour stand out!

This hiking trail from lake to lake in the Traunsee-Almtal region in the Salzkammergut starts at the GH Seehaus, a short distance near the Almsee (nature reserve) to the "Deutsches Haus", there it goes into the forest towards Ameisstein, but then immediately left stop and follow the hiking trail over the Gschirrsattel in the direction of the high path to the Offensee (nature reserve). The Seeau snack station is located on the southern shore of the Offensee, where you can take a refreshing dip in the Offensee.
Then it continues along the Offensee until you come to the road that comes to Steinkogel near Ebensee am Traunsee. Connection to the Salzkammergutbahn at the Steinkogl train stop (note: not all trains stop at the bus stop).
At Offensee there is still the option to take the W 422/430 via the Rindbachtal to Ebensee (Via Maria) or take the Traunstein Taxi Route 41 to the Ebensee Landungsplatz train station.

Information and hiking maps are available from the tourist offices of the Traunsee-Almtal tourist office!

Important information:
We ask you to pay attention and be careful, on the one hand because of the hikers, on the other hand because of the unique nature reserve!

The sliding distance on the trail / hiking path Hochpfad / Offensee (downhill) or Offensee / Hochpfad (uphill) is approx. 2 km, so it is recommended to add approx. 30-60 minutes to the specified travel time, depending on the direction.
The journey from Grünau or from Ebensee (Steinkogl) to Offensee is also approx. 11 km each.
Starting point: Turn off Schwarzenbrunn vorm Almsee turn right into the forest road
Destination: Offensee in Ebensee, connection to the MTB routes 59 and 60 Fahrnaustube / Offenseerunde
