This trail offers a large-scale Buchberg crossing from west to east. Except for the last short steep section to the Buchberg summit, the trail initially descends into the Feldaisttal valley and then climbs steadily and moderately. However, good footwear and surefootedness are recommended for the steep ascent. The path leads past the romantic Dornach castle ruins to the inn at the stop. (Train travelers are best advised to start their hike here)
Beautiful views from the Buchberg rock (former wooden castle) and from the "Hoh-Haus" (viewing platform) over the ridge of the Sternwald and Freiwald forests to St. Michael (little church). Short detours to the "Eztlstorfer-Häusl", the "Augenbründl" and the Schalenstein are interesting during the ascent. The long-distance hiking trail no. 170 also leads across the Buchberg through the lower Mühlviertel region
