BergeSeen 02 with the eMTB from Fuschl via Ebenau to Faistenau

Description:

This stage includes neither single trails nor push sections. The short length of the route with 42.4 km is intentional. Because what you can experience here is likely unique.

The following highlights make this route, besides the wonderful nature, an unforgettable experience:

• The morning swim in the Fuschlsee or in the heated lido,


• the baked mice on the Hatzenalm, without the schnapps,


• a short sidestep to the rock bath or to the waterfall of the Plötz,


• and a Strubklamm canyoning route promises pure adrenaline


• and lastly a nightcap beer in the inn from the TV production "4 Women and 1 Death".

Directions:

The digital info board at the lido is the start for all leisure activities in Fuschl. Here you can also download the track for the stage BergeSeen 2.

A jump in the lake before the route and we start refreshed and full of energy towards the Red Bull headquarters, which is located directly on the Wolfgangsee federal road. On the bike path slightly uphill towards Hof, we turn left after about 200 m (km 1.1) to take the side road towards Perfalleck. The slight incline gets our pulse going because after just a few curves it goes steeply uphill to Perfalleck at 822 m (km 3.4). Here we enjoy the first viewpoint with the peaks of Schober and Frauenkopf, in order to burn off the altitude meters immediately. At the Tiefbrunnau junction (km 3.8) we turn left and after 2.25 km (km 6.1) we turn right onto the forest road. Now our path leads steadily uphill towards Grögernalm, which we leave on our left. After the next right turn there is a junction (km 8.4), where we turn steeply uphill left towards Hatznalm.

The Hatzenalm (km 9.1) lies on the right of the path and is a biker-friendly hut with charging options for your own wellbeing and also for the eMTB.

When descending from Hatzenalm, pay attention to the signage, as two forks in the road appear in a short distance, which would lead us on the wrong paths. After this short break we follow the forest road for about 3.5 km, which more or less stays on the contour line. At the junction (km 12.6) we continue straight. For those who want to go directly to Wolfgangsee, there is the option here to take another variant very steeply uphill over Königsbergalm. In any case, check your battery capacity beforehand.

Now there are a few curves downhill in the direction of Hintersee. At the next but one fork in the road (km 14) it goes uphill again via the bridge onto the Sonnenweg. There are also two more worthwhile alpine pastures here as alternatives, but you would have to turn left and carefully check range planning to reach either Genneralm with charging station or Bergalm.

However, we continue uphill to the next fork (km 15.7), where we continue straight ahead. Gently ascending we glide towards the sun and soon the view over Hintersee to Gaisberg opens, one of Salzburg’s local mountains. After a short ride on the same altitude, it goes downhill again towards our next destination, Hintersee. We reach the lake right by a bike-friendly inn (km 22.5) and have the opportunity for a swim in the lake here.

Now we have to drive 1.4 km on the state road towards Hintersee village and turn right (km 23.9) onto the forest road towards the Ice Chapel. It continues along the west shore of Hintersee, if you have not yet stopped, here is still a rustic stop at the Lago-Bar before continuing towards Faistenau. There are also some forks in a short distance here. It is best to follow the signs BergeSeen S800. After the Lago-Bar it goes for a few meters on the state road to the left, which you can leave again at km 27.8 to the right. A few meters later, use the gravel road, which steeply goes left (km 28.0) upwards and follow it again to Hinterseestraße (km 28.9) for 200 m, then turn left onto the side road to Faistenau center.

In the town center of Faistenau you can either enjoy a cozy cold drink in the inn of "4 Women and 1 Death", Krämewirt, or continue on the village street, following about 500 m until a small paved street steeply turns down left onto Lidaunstraße (km 30.7), which we follow for 2.1 km until shortly (km 32.8) before the snack station Ebnerwirt. Here the surface changes from asphalt to gravel and goes steeply downhill for 700 m towards Vorderschroffenau. We turn left and a paved farm road leads us to Ebenau. In Ebenau we do not cross the stream, but turn left before and ride along the crystal-clear Schwarzbach into the town center with a small museum.

As an alternative, there is again the option here to visit or immerse yourself in the Plötz waterfall. With the eMTB, it’s about 5-7 minutes from the town center.

Otherwise, continue to the Hotel Obermayr, where you can organize canyoning trips into the Strubklamm to really get your adrenaline pumping.

If this is not interesting or there is not enough time, we leave Ebenau town center onto Wiestal state road (km 36.7), follow it for 900 m, to turn left at the lowest point of the route (590 m, km 37.6) onto Strubklammstraße. Now it goes steadily uphill on asphalt, past the Felbertal school through the first rock gate and the tunnel. On the left the rock wall rises steeply upwards, and on the right leads down a gorge. Past the Seewirt with a view of the Almbach, which here in a primeval way finds a different path every week.

Caution is advised on this section. The road is narrow, and there is some more traffic in summer. Therefore, definitely carry a light on your eMTB to be recognized in shaded areas and unlit tunnels in time.

After a few kilometers, we leave Almbachstraße (km 41.8) and turn left uphill to finally reach our destination today, Faistenau (km 43.0).
