Long-distance trail Attersee-Attergau Stage 4 Steinbach - Seewalchen

The 4th stage of the Attersee-Attergau Long-Distance Hiking Trail leads from Steinbach am Attersee via Bramhosen to Alexenau and on to Weyregg am Attersee. From there, the route continues via the Brandsteig to the Gahberg and on toward Hongar.

After the Alpenberg at 973 m, the trail leads via Loisenwies and Trattberg, following the signs to Kammer-Schörfling and on to Seewalchen am Attersee.

Since this stage involves crossing two mountains, a good level of fitness is required. If needed, an additional overnight stay can be planned in Weyregg am Attersee. This extends the Attersee loop to five days.

From the village square in Steinbach am Attersee, the trail leads along the hiking path to the village of Seefeld. After crossing the bridge over the Kienbach, the route branches off to the right onto the Blümigen farm road toward the Schwanser organic farm.

Continuing to the right, the trail follows the forest road and the signs to the highest point of this stage, the Bramhosen at 960 m.

The route then follows the signs down into Alexenau. At first, the trail runs along a narrow path to the Seeleitenstüberl, then continues down a wider path to the Hotel-Gasthof Bramosen.

On the Dr. Heinrich Gleißner Trail, the route passes the See-Alpakas —offering beautiful views of Lake Attersee and the opposite shore—and continues on to Weyregg am Attersee toward the beach.

The route leads through the Jubiläumsallee to the bridge over the Weyregger Bach and continues along a footpath to the Gasthof Landeroith. After crossing the main road, the trail continues directly to the Höhenweg and up the Brandsteig to the Gahberg at 864 m. There, a magnificent view opens up of Lake Attersee, the Höllengebirge, and the Schafberg.

Along Gahbergstraße, past the observatory and the Gahberg Chapel, the trail leads over the Taubenkogel and above the Kreuzing Alm to the Alpenberg at 973 m. You can stop for a break at Gasthof Schwarz. The inn is not directly on the trail and requires a detour of about 15 minutes.

Shortly after the Alpenberg, the route branches off to the left and follows the signs across the Loisenwies and the Trattberg, past the Poinerhaus, and continues along Sickinger Straße, Marktwaldstraße, and Karl-Hausjell-Allee toward the riding stable.

Passing the riding stable, the trail leads along Khevenhüllerstraße toward the Ager Bridge. After the bridge, the route runs to the left along the lake shore—on a section of the Gustav Klimt Theme Trail—to the parish church in Seewalchen am Attersee. This is where the grand loop around Lake Attersee ends.
