Almtal Bike Trail - Route via Vorchdorf and Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting - Almtal Cycling Hub

A route variation of the R11 Almtal Bike Trail via Vorchdorf and Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting—partly along sections of the Radstern Almtal mobility project

The route variant via Vorchdorf and Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting on the Almtal Cycle Path takes you from Wels along the R4 Traun Cycle Path/R6 Roman Cycle Path to the Lambach Power Plant, through Stadl-Paura, Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, Vorchdorf, and Einsiedling, where you follow the R13 Traunviertelweg to Eggenstein and then turn back onto the R11 Almtal Cycle Path toward Scharnstein, continuing to Grünau im Almtal and on to the endpoint at Almsee.

Along the Almtal Cycle Path, it’s worth taking a break here and there. This route takes you through the entire Almtal valley. Whether you want to stop for a rest at a cozy inn or visit an interesting museum, you’ll have plenty of options.
For example, the Tempus Archaeology Museum and the Hackenschmiede Open-Air Museum in Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, the Motorcycle Museum or the Schloss Eggenberg Brewery in Vorchdorf, and the Museum of Writing and Printing in the Bartlhaus in Pettenbach, right next to the Pettenbach train station. (You can also take the Almtalbahn from here or up to this point.) The Geyerhammer Scythe Museum in Scharnstein is also worth a detour.

Passing through the village of Viechtwang, you’ll then take Almeggstraße toward Grünau im Almtal, past the Grünau im Almtal train station, where you’ll join the state road leading to Lake Almsee. Cycle along the lake, past the Cumberland Wildlife Park in Grünau. After the Habernau (Jagersimmerl) turnoff, you’ll pedal up one last hill before reaching the Almsee.

In this area, also take advantage of the opportunity to ride part of the way along the “Genuss am Almlfuss” hiking trail, which is designed as a shared trail.
