Experience the wilderness, explore, comprehend and preserve! The Natur-Spuren interactive nature trail is an ideal hiking destination for nature lovers who are out and about with their eyes wide open. Ancient forests with mighty fir trees and old yews accompany you up the Patzlberg. What is nurse-log reproduction, how are brace roots created and is dead wood actually alive? The astonishing answers are hidden at the info station “Everything you ever wanted to know about trees”.

Starting from the Villa Sonnwend National Park Hotel, you hike mostly on forest paths up the Patzlberg, continuing through the Salzatal to the Wurbauerkogel - the "fire salamander symbol" serves as a signpost! Eight stations, most of them interactive, add variety to the hike. You can let your imagination run wild with the stone disc game. At the "Interesting facts about trees" station, you can learn all about carcass regeneration and stilt roots. From the "National Park View" station, you can use the telescope on the opposite stone wall to observe chamois with a bit of luck. At the "Wheel of Time" you can take a look back in time and learn how the imposing mountain world of the Windischgarsten valley was formed. Children can test their climbing skills in front of the Wurbauerkogel panorama tower.

Even in rainy weather, the "Nature Trails" are worth a trip, as the otherwise nocturnal fire salamanders venture out of their hiding places. It is not for nothing that the fire salamander is the symbol of the adventure trail.

Paths no. 2, 3 or 8 are recommended as the way back to Villa Sonnwend!
Ascent from Villa Sonnwend to the Wurbauerkogel National Park Panorama Tower approx. 2.5-3 hours. Way back approx. 1-1.5 hours.
