Tour to the Upper Lake Gosau

Starting place: 4824 Gosau
Destination: 4824 Gosau

A beautiful hiking tour along the Lake Gosau, to the "Gosaulacke" and to the Upper Lake Gosau. You have a good view to the Dachstein.

On the way to the Hinterer Gosausee, it’s best to walk along the left shore of the Vorderer Gosausee, where you’ll have a view of the Dachstein and its glacier. After passing the Gosaulacke, the trail leads through a few steep sections toward your destination. You’ll enjoy fantastic views of King Dachstein time and again. Once you reach the Hinterer Gosausee, it’s not far to the Hohen Holzmeisteralm, a mountain hut serving food and drinks. There, you can refuel with an alpine snack and enjoy a few pleasant hours. With a little luck, you might spot chamois playing on the rugged cliffs.

Please note: The trail runs through alpine terrain. Therefore, pay close attention to current weather conditions and hike the trail only when conditions are safe.
During thunderstorms, heavy rain, or storms, there is a significantly increased risk of rockfalls and boulder falls, as well as falling branches or tree parts. If weather conditions worsen, you should turn back or avoid entering the trail altogether.
Even in winter and spring, avalanches as well as freezing and thawing cycles can increase the risk of rock and boulder falls. Snow, ice, and icy sections of the trail can further impair safe hiking. There is no winter maintenance service. Please also note the wildlife protection zone between the Vorderer and Hinterer Gosausee lakes, which must not be entered!
Pass through the marked danger zones quickly and without lingering. In particular, do not stop beneath rock faces, and be sure to observe any barriers in place.
