The hiking trail in the town center of Gaflenz was designed by the kindergarten children. At the beginning of the walk, hikers are greeted by Dr. Zirbel, the forest animal doctor, who guards a wooden box with the stories of the dwarfs next to him. Every visitor is welcome to borrow these and return them to their place. On the way back, you can choose to take the same path or a stroll through the town center of Gaflenz.

Climate-friendly to the National Park Region - Gaflenz Train Station: By train, you are at the starting point for this hike in about 2 hours from Linz and about 2.5 hours from Vienna.

Das Wasser im solarbeheizten Becken hat genau die richtige Temperatur für eine erfrischende Abkühlung, ohne dass man gleich friert. Besonders schön finde ich die große, gepflegte Liegewiese – unter den alten Bäumen findet man immer ein schattiges Plätzchen zum Entspannen. Auch Familien mit Kindern kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten: Das separate Kinderbecken mit Rutsche sorgt für Spaß und Abwechslung. Insgesamt ein sehr sauberes, gemütliches Freibad mit angenehmer Atmosphäre – perfekt, um den Sommer in vollen Zügen zu genießen!

Die Erhebungsurkunde vom 24. Oktober 1140 zur Pfarre Gaflenz ist zugleich auch die erste urkundliche Erwähnung von Gaflenz. Im Jahr 1464 wurde die Pfarrkirche erweitert.
1948/49 wurden gotische Fresken, die Szenen aus dem Marienleben darstellen, freigelegt. 1988/89 wurde die Kirche einer umfangreichen Restaurierung und Erweiterung unterzogen.
