Pyhrn-Priel panorama bike ride

The round trip leads through the entire region. On low-traffic side roads, the Pyhrn-Priel Panorama takes you to unique places and unique natural landscapes. But beware: without electric support it needs strong calves!

The dream tour connects all nine places in the Pyhrn-Priel region. Picturesque mountain panoramas, hilly terrain, short climbs accompanied by a river characterize this wonderful tour. The Pyhrn-Priel Panorama is connected by the Steyrtal cycle path (R8) and the Kalkalpen National Park cycle path (R31) and is signposted as a "variant" with the route numbers R811 and R311.

The tour starts at the Klaus reservoir, the gateway to the Pyhrn-Priel region. Insider tip: There are pretty little bays on the banks to cool off. In front of the old railway bridge, we turn into the idyllic Brunnental with the village of Steyrling - a sleepy side valley, where deer come to the front door in the evening. We continue on the new Steyrtal cycle path towards St. Pankraz, where we turn right at the rest station to the Steyr bridge and then left into the Stodertal. In Hinterstoder we recommend a visit to the Strumboding waterfall and the most beautiful place in Austria, the Schiederweiher. At the end of the valley there is still the Baumschlagerreith inn with its origins of the Steyr river. Please note that these places can only be visited by foot! The way back is through the village of Hinterstoder and finally on the road with little traffic to Vorderstoder - here you should definitely enjoy the breathtaking panorama with a view of the Großer Priel and Spitzmauer!

A detour to the Schafferteich natural bathing area offers another bathing opportunity. Then we continue towards Roßleithen / Windischgarsten in the Garstnertal valley. If you need another refreshment, you can go to Gleinkersee and bathe in the natural mountain lake. Or you can visit the Pießling Ursprung in Roßleithen, one of the largest karst springs in the Eastern Alps.

Now it goes on to Spital am Pyhrn with its baroque church and the museum "Between heaven and earth - Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner and the world of the 8000er". Over Oberweng, at the foot of the Pyhrgas, you have a unique view of the Garstnertal. You finally reach Windischgarsten via Edlbach. On the Kalkalpen National Park Cycle Path (R31) you cycle via Rading along the Teichl to St. Pankraz. The last part of the Pyhrn-Priel Panorama leads back to the Klaus reservoir on paths with little traffic.
