The tour was developed as part of an Interreg project between Bavaria and Austria.
It starts at BrauLiebe Hirz in Hauzenberg, a small brewery with a museum, restaurant and beautiful views of the hills. Incidentally, this is where the modern spelt beer was invented - a beer style that is now known far beyond the region.
Shortly afterwards, you cross the farm of Steindlbach, with an impressive windmill at the top of the meadow. After Kohlstatt, you imperceptibly cross the border to the adventure region in the upper Mühlviertel. From here on, the route now goes downhill more often than uphill.
After a wide curve, you reach Julbach, the easternmost point of the tour, and in the Meraner Kutscherstadl you can enjoy a refreshment stop to make your legs light again. The route takes you back to Kohlstatt, from where you return to the Reischlhof and finally down to Hauzenberg on familiar paths.
