S9 Afiesl Round

The S9 Afiesl Loop is a varied circular hike through the charming countryside in the north of the Mühlviertel region. The tour starts and ends in Piberschlag near Vorderweißenbach. From here, the route first winds through the rolling hills and wooded landscapes around Afiesl, offering magnificent views of the typical Mühlviertel cultural landscape at every turn.

Passing through Piberschlag, the route heads toward Schönegg and continues on to Guglwald on the border with the Czech Republic. In the higher sections, cyclists can enjoy impressive panoramic views of the forested ridges of the Bohemian Forest and the expansive hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel. The route then leads through Köckendorf, Unterafiesl, and Oberafiesl, passing through a varied mix of meadows, forests, and small villages.

The route then continues via Neuenschlag and Waldhäuser back toward the starting point. The route combines quiet side roads with nature trails and offers a relaxed cycling experience far from heavy traffic.
