Via Kühleiten to the Mozart View

The Amadeus Trail leads through Kühleiten to the Mozartblick and combines nature exploration, exercise, and breathtaking views. The hike begins at the St. Gilgen Tourist Office. From there, the route follows Wolfgangsee Straße toward the Zwölferhorn cable car. Just before the crosswalk, the signs point to the right uphill, marking the start of the ascent.

At the start of the trail, you’ll pass a wayside shrine depicting Saint Anthony. As the patron saint of the poor, Anthony is one of the best-known and most beloved folk saints. As is often the case in Christian iconography, he is depicted in a Franciscan habit, holding the Baby Jesus in his arms and carrying a lily.

The trail then leads through a near-natural forest with numerous dead trees. These dead trees fulfill important functions in the ecosystem and contribute significantly to biodiversity. They serve as a habitat and food source for numerous insects, fungi, birds, and mammals. They also provide shelter and nesting sites for many animal species.

Beyond the forest, the landscape opens up into a charming scene of meadows and alpine pastures. The route passes a farmstead and continues behind the cowshed. Red-white-red hiking trail markers along the route serve as guides. Several benches along the way invite you to take a break and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

The Amadeus Trail offers numerous opportunities to consciously take in the sounds of nature and let the special atmosphere of the surroundings wash over you. The varied route through forest and alpine pasture areas creates a harmonious experience of nature and invites you to enjoy the tranquility of the landscape.

Once you reach the destination, the Mozartblick offers an impressive panoramic view of Lake Wolfgang and the surrounding mountains. This viewpoint is considered one of the most beautiful vantage points overlooking St. Gilgen.

After spending some time at the Mozartblick, the return journey begins toward the starting point. Along the route, at the edge of the forest, you’ll find the Annenquelle spring, which offers fresh drinking water. Finally, the trail leads back to the St. Gilgen Tourist Office, where the Amadeus Trail comes to an end.
