All About the Sparrow
The Perspectives Trail is a varied circular hiking trail around the Sparber. With its striking twin peaks, the Sparber is one of the region’s most iconic mountains. The route offers ever-changing views of the mountain and the surrounding landscape, combining nature experiences with cultural and historical landmarks. The hike begins in the center of Strobl. From there, the trail leads toward the hamlet of Weißenbach. Along the way, you’ll pass the Langerbauer wayside cross. It is one of the region’s many wayside and weather crosses, which bear witness to religious tradition and the farming community’s close connection to nature. To this day, these crosses serve as a reminder of the importance of the sun, rain, and weather for agriculture.
After an ascent through the forest, you’ll reach the Kleefeld Inn. This popular destination features a wildlife park and a petting zoo. From there, the route continues via the Stadlmannalm to the Langeralm.
At the Langeralm, there is a chapel dedicated to Saint Hubert. There is also a box-shaped cross with a shingle roof commemorating a hunter who died at this spot.
The trail continues through varied meadow and forest landscapes. Along the way, different views of the Sparber and the surrounding mountains open up time and again. The route’s close connection to nature makes this loop trail a particularly charming hiking experience.
Several rest areas along the way invite you to take a break. Near the Mahdhäusl, there is a rest area with seating by a well-maintained pond. Further along, the route leads along a meadow path to the Holzerbauern on the Haberg. There stands a small chapel, its interior illuminated by two side windows. The simple design and tranquil setting lend the place a special atmosphere.
Finally, the Perspectives Trail leads back to the center of Strobl, where the circular hike comes to an end. The route combines impressive landscapes, cultural highlights, and numerous views of the Salzkammergut mountains.
