Find your rhythm above the rooftops of St. Wolfgang

The Sonnenpfad trail winds through the hills of St. Wolfgang and offers varied views of the town, Lake Wolfgang, and the surrounding mountain landscape. The route combines nature experiences with cultural and historical landmarks.

The hike begins at the St. Wolfgang Tourist Office. At the start, the trail leads slightly uphill to the so-called Ahornplatzl, a shaded rest area with several old maple trees. These impressive trees have shaped the landscape for several centuries and lend this spot a special atmosphere.

Further along, the route leads through meadows and wooded areas above St. Wolfgang. Along the way, beautiful views of the village and Lake Wolfgang open up time and again. There are also several well-preserved wayside shrines, wayside crosses, and chapels along the route.

A special landmark is the weather cross on the Buchberg. The inscription there—“O man, remember where you are going; remember that I died for you”—commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. Weather crosses were traditionally erected as a sign of faith and as a plea for protection against natural disasters and misfortune. Visible from afar, the weather cross offers a view of the Wolfgang Valley and toward the Loser.

Along the Sonnenpfad, there are several rest areas and snack stops offering regional specialties. The varied route through the cultural landscape allows you to enjoy nature and the views along the way at your own pace.

The Sonnenpfad ends at the Schwarzenbach bus stop. From there, you can either return to the starting point or continue your hike on another Abriani Trail.
