A family-friendly hike on the Mondseeberg, mainly through shady forest. Particularly pleasant on hot summer days, with attractive views of Lake Mondsee and the Drachenwand directly along the way.
This route leads mainly through a cool mixed forest and is therefore also very pleasant to walk on sunny days. Hiking trail no. 5 is varied and entertaining. A forest road is crossed several times on the ascent. In between, there are always light spots in the forest that offer views of the striking Drachenwand, the Schober and Lake Mondsee. The starting point is at the small settlement of "Seegruber" above Mondsee. The Seegruber chapel is also located there.
The tour starts directly after the last house at the edge of the forest. From here, follow the signs for trail no. 5. The trail leads steadily uphill, crosses the forest road several times and finally ends at the Radstatt chapel.
Alternative 1:
Large loop (via the Kulmspitze): From the chapel, you can continue to the viewing tower on the Kulmspitze (trail no. 4) in around an hour and then hike back to the starting point via trail no. 1 and a short stretch on the road.
Alternative 2:
Start in the town center: If you want to collect additional altitude meters, you can start the hike directly in Mondsee, for example at the bus station. This means the tour is also easily accessible by public transport. Trail no. 5 also starts behind the church, extending the route to around 500 meters in altitude.
