Ski tour Losenstein - Hohe Dirn

Description:
The abandoned ski area in the Kalkalpen National Park region of Ennstal offers many tour options. The different routes are all very suitable for beginners and those in between. If there is enough snow, the tour can either start in Losenstein at the train station or you can ascend from the Reichraminger Rohrbachgraben. An extension option leads over the 1177 m high Sonnkogel and from there back to the ski area.Directions:
The car is parked in the parking lot at the vacation resort or alternatively a little higher up at the former mountain restaurant, now the conference center. At the far end of the parking lot, strap on your skis and ski down to the former ski slope.

From there, the ascent to the Anton-Schosser-Hütte begins. The ascent across the gently sloping meadows offers increasingly beautiful views of the Enns Valley as well as the Almkogel, the Bodenwiese and the mountain world of the Gesäuse with the Kleiner Buchstein, the Tieflimauer and the Tamischbachturm.

Before you reach the forest at the upper end of the meadow, keep right and you will see the Anton-Schosser-Hütte (1156 m) of the Steyr Alpine Club in front of you. After a stop for refreshments, you have the choice between different descents: either you ski back along the ascent route via the piste or you take the summer trail.

Safety guidelines:
Every tour should be well planned and prepared. Good equipment with avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe is essential. Weather forecasts, avalanche warnings and safety instructions must be observed.
