Description:

The circular hike starts at the parking lot of the Glasenberg ski lift in Maria Neustift and leads along hiking trail E33 to the summit of the Glasenberg (971 m) and back to the starting point via the high trail E33a with wonderful views of Maria Neustift and the Sengsengebirge.

Directions:

The starting point for this circular hike is the parking lot at the Glasenberg ski lift in Maria Neustift. First you pass the Glasnerhütte (refreshments available) on a gravel road, which climbs slightly past some weekend houses until you enter a forest. This section runs parallel to the Voralpenweg 404 and the E33 hiking trail. After approx. 100 m, turn left onto a gravel path that turns into a slightly ascending pasture area. After the mountain station of the ski lift, you reach the high plateau of the Glasenberg. At the summit cross (971 m), a bench invites you to take a break and enjoy the magnificent view of the Hallermauern, the Sengsengebirge and the mountains of the Kalkalpen National Park. The high trail (E33a) now continues across natural flower and herb meadows until you reach a woodshed, where you turn right onto a marked forest road. Follow this until you reach the Durchlaufner Sattel, where there is another beautiful panoramic view of Maria Neustift and the surrounding mountains. The path leads down to the left to the Durchlauf farmhouse. From there, you hike back to the starting point at the parking lot in around 30 minutes on a goods road.
