Hohe Dirn round in the cold season

The beautiful circular hike starts at the Hohe Dirn parking lot and takes you to the summit with a wonderful panoramic view before you return to the starting point past the Anton Schosser hut.

From the paid parking lot, you can either walk along the road or directly across the meadows to just below the Anton Schosser hut. From here, follow the signpost on the right towards the summit. The short ascent to the Hohe Dirn is definitely worthwhile - from the summit you can enjoy wonderful views of the Alpine foothills and as far as the Mühlviertel.

On the way back, a path branches off to the right to the hut shortly before the pasture crossing.

From the hut, follow the forest road in the direction of Sonnkogel. After a short time, the path turns left across a meadow to a house. From there, a short forest section leads back to the starting point.

Clothing:

• Functional or ski underwear


• Fleece jacket (for very cold temperatures)


• Waterproof outdoor jacket or light winter jacket


• Warm softshell pants or hiking pants - In very cold weather: ski pants


• Hat and gloves


• Scarf or multifunctional scarf


• Gaiters (for snow)


• Warm hiking socks


• Sturdy footwear suitable for winter (waterproof, non-slip sole)

• Hiking poles or ski poles if required (with winter plates)


• Light crampons or Grödel


• Backpack (ideally with rain cover)
