Salzsteins Geheimnis - eine interaktive Rätseltour

Join the magical Salt Stone on a fascinating cycle tour along the R2 Salzkammergut Cycle Route through the Salzkammergut! At each stop, you’ll hear exciting stories, solve tricky puzzles and immerse yourself in the region’s culture and history. Help the salt stone rediscover its lost memories and unravel the mystery of its past.

How does it work?

The free tour is available via the HUBLZ app and is aimed in particular at families, school groups and cyclists with an interest in culture who want to experience the Inner Salzkammergut in a different way.
HUBLZ is a multi-award-winning app that combines cultural education with modern storytelling. Users download the app free of charge onto their smartphone, activate GPS and follow the digital guide through the region. Content is automatically unlocked at each location – including texts, audio recordings, images and interactive games.

What can you expect?

With insider facts and puzzles, the Salzstein avatar takes you on a journey of discovery – from Richard Gerstl’s view of the Traunstein, through the industrial history of the Solvay factory in Ebensee, to the moving story of the Nazirescue of art treasures in Lauffen, the traditional ‘Plätten’ on Lake Hallstatt, and other special places. Each stop on the tour offers new perspectives on the cultural landscape of the Salzkammergut. One leg of the tour takes you to the Landler Museum in Bad Goisern – a place that powerfully illustrates how deeply displacement, return and cultural heritage shape the present day.

On this exciting journey through the past, you’ll see the Salzkammergut through new eyes and engage with history. Your knowledge and curiosity about the mysteries will be put to the test. If you answer them correctly, you’ll collect points, help the Salzstein revive its memories and, as a reward, receive a downloadable certificate in recognition of your hard work!

The route is mostly flat, well-maintained and suitable for all ages, offering the perfect combination of leisure and learning.

There is the option to take the train back from Obertraun. All towns along the route have a railway station, with services running hourly.
