Wanderweg Entenstein

This walk starts at the community centre. The route follows the Fischlhamerbach stream, past our lovely parish centre with its famous ‘Fischerkanzel’. The route continues along the Forellenweg up to the former Fischlham water reservoir behind the Gabersbergerhof. Following a dirt track with magnificent views of the mountains, it heads towards Steinerkirchen and down the farm track to the Heischbach stream, before climbing back up to Lahen.
The blue circuit continues and crosses the Thalheimer Landesstraße near the residential area. Between the houses, it leads along the so-called Häuslstraße (field track) to the Untergut in Seebach (Neuböck). Turning left, the route continues through the valley gorge towards Schauertal to the cultural gem that is St Georgen Church in Schauertal, with the ‘Bründl’ spring, from which visitors regularly draw water for healing purposes. There are also several places of spiritual power here that invite you to linger.

After this break, the route heads uphill along the Schauertal farm track to the farmsteads in the hamlet of Forstberg. Here, a magnificent view opens up over Gunskirchen and the town of Wels. The path then leads down into one of the most beautiful nature reserves in our country. At the end of the descending path, you are greeted by a clearing where the Bauernwolfen ponds are nestled. Right at the crossroads, a sign (approx. 300m) indicates that you should take the detour off the marked path to the Entenstein natural monument. Not only is this a stunning piece of natural scenery, but the soundscape – with birdsong in duet with the clatter of the ‘Widder’ (a water-lifting device that operates without electricity) – is a rare experience. The marked path, however, leads off to the left. Following the edge of the Schocksberg embankment, the route winds its way up between the oak trees along a lovely meadow path to the Dickertbauern, where we rejoin the Entensteinstraße, passing numerous fishing spots along the Fischlhamerbach stream and the sports centre on our way back to the town centre. Afterwards, you can reflect on this nature experience at the inn and, of course, replenish the fluids lost during this walk.
