Dear visitors to the Almtal and the Path of Mindfulness!
Due to the deer rutting season and the associated closed season in winter for animals and nature, the following opening hours apply to the road into the Hetzau Valley:
May 01 - September 14 and October 16 - 31, the road is open to traffic!
Hunting ban: September 15 - October 15
During this time it is possible to walk on the road and hike in the direction of Steyrling, but please avoid the off-peak times and stay on the marked paths.
No catering on the route! The Almtalerhaus is closed!
The path of Mindfulness - stage 2:
Start: Almtalerhaus - Grünau im Almtal
Finish: Klaus Castle - Klaus an der Pyhrnbahn
Almtal - Brunnental - Steyrtal - Kremstal
How to get to the path of mindfulness in Grünau im Almtal in the Salzkammergut:
We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train: from Wels station take the Almtalbahn (line 153) to Grünau im Almtal;
numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101)
The Almtalerhaus can be reached either on foot (15.5 km) or with the Salzkammergut Shuttle.
by bus: OÖVV bus line 533/534 Gmunden - Grünau im Almtal - Almsee, bus stop Grünau Habernau.
The Almtalerhaus can be reached either on foot (approx. 6.3 km) or with the Salzkammergut Shuttle.
Salzkammergut Shuttle Service:
With the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 60 , for example, in the period from May 1 to September 14, if the Almtalerhaus is fully booked, you can travel from the Almtalerhaus stop to the Sportplatz stop to get to the House of Mindfulness from there (3 minutes). Please call the cab center at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 and order.
on foot: From Grünau im Almtal station you can follow the path through the village, either along the Grünaubach or along Schindlbachstraße to the House of Mindfulness. You can then follow the Mindfulness Trail from the House of Mindfulness along the Grünaubach stream to the Alm, and then hike along the Almuferweg "Genuss am Almfluss" trail via Cumberland Wildpark to Jagersimmerl/Habernau. From there, follow the Hetzautal valley to the Almtalerhaus.
By car:
Westautobahn A1: Vienna - Voralpenkreuz-A9 - exit Ried/Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal
Westautobahn A1: Munich - Salzburg - Regau - Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal
Innkreisautobahn A8 Passau - Wels - Voralpenkreuz A9 Pyhrnautobahn - exit Ried/Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal
From the center of Grünau im Almtal follow the Almsee Landesstraße to the junction in Habernau and then the road to the Almtalerhaus.
