Marterlroas

Starting place: 4924 Waldzell
Destination: 4924 Waldzell

Until 1779, the Leitensteig was the border between Bavaria and Austria.

The Marterlroas starts at a historic boundary stone at the "Flucht". The tour follows in the footsteps of the former lumberjacks and smugglers to the Bruckweg monument. Past the Wastltafel and Josefitafel, you reach the former Schranne border and trading station. Within sight of the old Austrian-Bavarian border, you return to the escape on the Leitensteig forest path.

The wayside shrines bear witness to hard work and fates.
