A nice, technically not difficult trail round with approx. 13km and 750hm.
Directions:
We start at the stop near the Avanti gas station just before Losenstein, between the houses above the stop there is a path up to the Hutterberg. Always straight along, signposts show us the way to the Rammlerhöhe and to the Fatima Chapel. Past the transmission mast, after 2.7 km we come to the large cross on the Rammlerhöhe. Here we have a beautiful view of Losenstein and the Enns power plant. Here you will find the cross of lights and a cider fountain with drinks, which were built by the Losenstein-Reichraming-Laussa rural youth group.
We continue downhill across the meadow onto the forest road and shortly afterwards we reach the Fatima Chapel. Along the road to Gspörr we go back up towards Jungscharalm. We go around the hill and come back on the road to a sign pointing to Laussa. We walk down the path and come to Schindlthal. In the curve of the road, an inconspicuous Jagasteig, called Markussteig, branches off to the left into the forest and leads us up to the Mistlberg. At the highest point of this trail there is a wooden hut (with a drinks crate!!). and a great view of the surrounding mountains of the Upper Austrian Prealps. Directly behind the hut the path goes back towards Fatima Chapel. We are just walking along the forest road (Stifthal), past the Talstein (summit cross) until after a few kilometers we meet the path again, which leads us directly back to our starting point at the bus stop on Eisenstraße.
Tip:
Refreshment possibility:
There is a “Mostbrunnen” at the Lichterkreuz and a box of drinks at the Mistlberg near the hut (take some change!!)
Equipment:
The required equipment always depends on the particular tour and the weather conditions. Regarding the food: This is very individual and it is recommended to have rather too much than too little with equipment and food. For a 5km round in the valley you need less than for a demanding tour in the mountains. The weather can change quickly and if you are not constantly on the move or need to take a break, for example, warming clothing is of great importance.
We have a general checklist for you here:
- weather-appropriate running gear for the season - weather forecast - region - elevation. This includes:
* a waterproof rain jacket
* a waterproof rain trousers suitable for running
* Gloves and warm headgear (hood/headband/towel).
* sunglasses + sunscreen + headgear for very warm days - Trail running shoes
- Drinking bottles, softflasks or a hydration bladder with enough liquid for the respective tour (if necessary also salt tablets/magnesium)
- Snacks for the energy boost in between: Energy bars, gels, chocolate, trail mix,
- Running backpack: ideally a trail running vest / a trail running backpack or a belly belt for small tours.
- Drypack: to keep your valuables or change of clothes dry (optionally a small garbage bag).
- Emergency blanket
- Small first aid kit. An Israeli bandage is highly recommended: this is a one-handed wound and pressure bandage. Details can be found here.
- Emergency whistle (often integrated in trail backpacks)
- Cell phone
- Maps (online and/or offline)
- E-card or insurance card
- Some cash
- Grödeln/Spikes: these can be a great advantage in winter and icy conditions.
- Folding poles for trail running
- Headlamp
