Just in time for summer 2026, a new excursion destination awaits families around Schlägl Abbey: the Abbey Ghost Trail.

Join the little monastery ghosts on their adventure and discover the story in the monastery book "Two little ghosts and a promise". The loving illustrations were created by the children of the Klaffer am Hochficht elementary school and give the story a very special charm.

You should plan around 1.5 - 2 hours for the 4.5 km trail, including solving the puzzles. The route is suitable for baby carriages, has almost no inclines and is therefore ideal for families.

Equipped with the trail pass including the marked route and the Stifti book, you can embark on an exciting journey of discovery. Along the way, seven display boards with riddles invite you to get to know Schlägl Abbey, its history, life behind the monastery walls and many interesting features. If you find the right answer, a small reward awaits you at the end.

There is also plenty for children to discover along the way: a playground, ponds, meadows, old trees and many other nature experiences. Join the monastery ghosts on their adventure and immerse yourself in their exciting story!

The Stiftsgeister-Weg is also easily accessible by public transport: take the Mühlkreisbahn or bus line 280 to the Schlägl stop.
