HAUSRUCK - LINZ
Heading south, we leave the KTM Motohall and shortly afterwards the main road to Munderfing. Instead, we turn off onto Stallhofener Straße and pass the headquarters of the Austrian premium motorbike manufacturer. And as if it were the starting signal, shortly afterwards the riding fun begins: via Stallhofen and Langwiedmoos, we head up through lush green forest to Höh, only to swing back down into the valley on the other side. Not for long, though, because we're soon heading uphill again and after Sankt Johann am Walde the bends lead us into the Kobernaußerwald forest. The first temptation to take a break awaits us at the Steiglberghöhe: the Turmwirt.

However, we let our momentum take effect and continue swiftly eastwards. The well-maintained roads, both large and small, guarantee the finest riding fun and speedy progress, so that we almost miss it and are already at the Danube. We cross the Danube from Aschach to Landshaag, but don't turn off onto the hill climb route here, instead stalking on towards Linz. At Ottensheim, which is again at Danube level, we swing up the Dürrnberg and enjoy the route and the light traffic on the small road. As we continue, there are always impressive views far beyond the Danube valley to the south as far as the Austrian Alps. At Großamberg, not only can we enjoy this view, but we can already see our next destination, the Pöstlingberg church.
It towers majestically over Linz and offers an extremely popular vantage point slightly below, from which you have a magnificent view over and across the Upper Austrian capital. It's worth the short walk from the car park! If you look closely, you can see Linz Castle below you on the opposite bank of the Danube with the expansive greenery of the castle park. Hidden behind the trees is the next destination, the castle café with its cosy beer garden, from where you also have a good view back to the Pöstlingberg and across Linz and the Danube.
Reaching the Schlosscafé requires full concentration in the city traffic, as the route is not that easy: immediately after crossing the Danube, turn right onto Obere Donaulände in the direction of Eferding. After just under 400 metres, we turn left into the Römerberg tunnel and then zigzag along Hirschgasse, Schlossergasse, Lessingstraße and Römerstraße to finally reach the Schlossberg and the Schlosscafé.
We leave the state capital on a somewhat clearer route and pass the city's airport at Pasching. Even though Wels is the next metropolis in our direction, we prefer to take the smaller roads through the rural area and enjoy the benefits of less traffic and greater driving pleasure. At Schwanenstadt, memories of big motocross events come to mind, and if you take the detour towards "Kochlöffling", you can take an almost somewhat disappointing look at the race track - when there are no events, the "spot" between meadows and forests seems rather inconspicuous.
As the route continues, we approach the Hausruckwald forest again at Ottnang and continue to enjoy the roads past Ampflwang to Frankenburg am Hausruck. From here, we favour the smaller roads again and ride via Oberegg, Redlthal and Fornach to Pöndorf. We continue along the southern edge of the Kobernaußerwald via Höcken, Schneegattern and Friedburg back to our starting point, the KTM Motohall in Mattighofen.
