The Gimbach cascades in the Weißenbach valley are impressive. The water comes from the mountains (Höllengebirge) and runs through streaming runs in the rock, meanders, gathers up in natural water basins and falls over cascades.

Get inspired and have a look at the 360° tour!

Numerous plant and fish species are native to this natural environment and are NATURALLY PROTECTED. Preserving natural habitats and securing them permanently is the main objective of the Natura 2000 European protected area.

The starting point for this hike is the Gimbach Kaskaden car park in Weißenbach. To get there, drive a good 4 km from the center of Weißenbach into the Weißenbachtal valley. From there, path number 10 (Gimbachkaskadenweg) runs up towards the Höllengebirge. After about 15 minutes the path turns into a forest road, after a total of about 45 minutes you reach the wild and romantic cascades.

Extension route 1: For those who have not had enough here: The path leads parallel to the cascades for about 1 km further uphill quite steeply, almost to the origin of the Gimbach. Surefootedness and fitness are required here.
Along this path, paths branch off to the left several times, which lead to viewpoints on the cascades or the stream.

Extension route 2: If you want to go on a longer hike, park in Weißenbach and follow path no. 10 Eibenbergrundweg. From this branch off to the left, follow the cycle path for a while and pass the hut on the right and then cross the Weißenbachtal main road. Across from the Gimbach Kaskaden car park, path 10a then continues as described above. This tour takes about 2 hours to reach the cascades.

Don't feel like hiking alone? Hiking guides, such as Herbert Benedik, are happy to accompany you on hiking tours in the region, lead you reliably to your destination on the best paths and also offer exciting tips.

Those who want to discover the Gimbach cascades even closer from the water have exciting options, such as a canyoning tour with the Alpine School 4 Elemente or the unique package "hiking with the diving mask".
