Winter walk (along connecting roads) from the village of Au along Lake Hallstatt to the village of Obersee

Enjoy the white winter wonderland along Lake Hallstatt

The approx. 1-hour winter walk along connecting roads in the southern part of the Goiserer Valley starts at Metzgerwirt Vieh Heli or Bäckerei Maislinger in the village of Au. at the Maislinger bakery in the village of Au.

Follow the road below the Arikogel to the village of Untersee (approx. 20 minutes' walk)

Here you can decide whether you want to take a detour to the snow-covered Strandbad Untersee or just cross the village, following the signs to Lake Hallstatt.

The easy winter walk  leads past snow-covered meadows, sparse forests and along  Lake Hallstatt . 

Now you reach the Haus Bergkristall, where the popular Badeplatz Obersee is located.

Only about a 10-minute walk after the bend, you will reach the end of the footpath. From this bay onwards, the path is no longer maintained in winter 

Winter in Bad Goisern

The Holiday region Dachstein Salzkammergut a popular travel destination. Even in winter, the region around Bad Goisern offers its guests fun, relaxation and sporting highlights.
 
The nearby Ski resorts Dachstein West in Gosau and the Freeride Arena on the Krippenstein in Obertraun offer sporty experiences and a breathtaking winter panorama. Both ski areas are easily accessible using the free Skibus 
 
Cross-country skiers also get their money's worth. The Diversity of trails attracts both beginners and experts to one of the most exciting cross-country skiing centres in Austria. The various cross-country ski trails in Bad Goisern and Gosau offer both fast and leisurely excursions through glistening forests, depending on your preference, as well as breathtaking views of the majestic Dachstein glacier. A particular highlight is the high-altitude trail on the Krippenstein at 1,700 metres above sea level.
 
Those who prefer to discover the holiday region without skis can do so while snowshoeing or on the various winter hiking trails and at guided winter hikes.
 
The holiday region also has plenty to offer for children and the young at heart. In addition to romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, various toboggan runs and ice skating rinks provide fast-paced skating fun. The ice skating rinks provide additional winter sports fun.

 
Ski tours offer a special challenge. There are various opportunities to explore the snow-covered mountains around the Dachstein.

From Salzburg:
Exit Thalgau via the B158 federal road towards Bad Ischl, in Bad Ischl take the B145 Salzkammergut road towards Bad Goisern.
From Linz:
Regau motorway exit onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 towards Gmunden and Bad Ischl to Bad Goisern.
From Vienna/Graz:
Liezen motorway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn off onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Goisern.
From Villach:
Tauern motorway to exit "Eben im Pongau", via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße through Gosau, turn left at the Gosaumühle junction towards Bad Goisern.

By train
Train Attnang-Puchheim - Stainach-Irdning:
Stops Goisern Jodschwefelbad, Bad Goisern railway station, Steeg / Gosau.

By bus
Bus 541 & 542 (Bad Ischl - Lake Gosau):
