A hike that moves not just your feet but also your soul. Step by step, switch off, experience, and enjoy the Bad Kreuzen Heartbeat Route.

Directions:

The starting point of this hiking route is Burg Kreuzen, a place full of history and charm. From here, the path leads downhill to Aignerberg, past the chapel "Aigner Kreuz." The chapel, with its quiet presence, invites you to pause and reflect. Here, in the calm and seclusion, you can let your thoughts wander and find the inner retreat often lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is a moment of contemplation that prepares hikers for the journey ahead and opens the senses to the wonders of nature.

With an open heart and hiking enthusiasm in tow, a refreshing and invigorating experience awaits: The Wolfsschlucht, where mystical rocks and the gentle babbling of the brook engage the senses in a very special way. The many steps and the Herzog spring allow you to feel the power of nature impressively and invite you to let yourself be enchanted by the magic of this place.

The path continues through the forest, where the Kneipp trail with its refreshing water elements awaits. Here, where nature whispers its stories, it's time to take off your shoes and wade through the water. While the cool water plays around your feet, you experience the invigorating effect and increased well-being. Refreshed and lively, the path leads next to the forest contemplation. Here, a moment of calm and reflection awaits before ascending over the Gruber hill and a farm track to the "Weiserhöhe." Up here, you feel the summit happiness of the hike and are rewarded with the view over the gentle hills of the idyllic Strudengau.

After the ascent and summit happiness, a generous midday break is recommended to simply enjoy the moment. Refreshed, the route continues through the Kneipp garden to the chapel "Maria Hilf" and further along the Anton Bruckner path. This section is dedicated to Bad Kreuzen's most famous spa guest and the great musical master. Following his footsteps, you walk to the spring that once inspired him for the Kyrie of his famous F minor Mass. So breathe deeply in and out, because here you breathe history and inspiration at once. Over the "bathing houses," the last section leads back to Burg Kreuzen, the starting and ending point of this invigorating hike.

For those who want to experience some summit happiness again at the end, the hike is crowned with an ascent to the castle tower. On the way up to the viewing platform, visitors can enjoy the free exhibition "Healing Power of Water" – featuring interesting and exciting information about the history of the place and the origins of the spa tradition. Once at the top, you let the impressions of the past hike sink in again and enjoy the power and beauty of nature with the magnificent view over the Danube valley, the Strudengau, and the Alps.
