Between the church of St. Johann and the collegiate basilica there is the "Florianiweg", an approx. half-hour hiking route that offers silence, experience with nature and contemplative moments on the martyrdom of the patron saint of our monastery and our village at the same time.
Along this route, there are stations for pausing. At modern meditation boards, impulses from the testimony of faith of St. Florian are presented 'before your eyes' which can be internalized while continuing the walk.

The St. Florian Fire Museum is housed in the Baroque farmstead of the Augustinian Canons’ Abbey. The building is shaped like a double square and is enormous in size (84 x 71 meters). After falling into disrepair in the 1960s, the Meierhof was restored, and following the decision by the “Historisches Feuerwehrzeughaus St. Florian” association to establish a museum, the museum opened in 1984.
Access to the exhibition is through a small hall reserved for the St. Florian Abbey Fire Department. As Austria’s oldest corporate fire department, it has been in operation since 1847. The museum traces the development of the fire service as both a technical and a social institution. Old firefighting equipment such as hand-operated pumps, horse-drawn vehicles, vintage motorized vehicles, as well as personal gear and uniforms illustrate the historical development of firefighting equipment. The exhibition also covers the current state of firefighting technology, disaster response, fire prevention, and the firefighting industry.
The history of the Upper Austrian Fire Department Association and the Upper Austrian State Fire Academy—the first of its kind in the German-speaking world (founded in 1927)—is also featured. The fire departments of the cities of Linz, Wels, and Steyr have their own exhibition areas, which—representing the nearly 1,000 fire departments in our state—highlight the work of fire departments and individual firefighters for the benefit of society.
