Short description:
This theme trail demonstrates how important the honeybee and insects are for balance in nature as well for agricultural yields. For this purpose, the bee information centre, the show-beehut and insect hotels were put up and a bee-meadow laid out. Presentation boards along the way tell astonishing facts about honeybees.

Description:
The circular trail begins at the market square in St. Martin i.M. Near the school you`ll find the bee information centre, built in the shape of a honeycomb. Several short films show phases in the life of honeybees, wild bees and insects. In the beehive made of glass, the honey collectors can be safely observed. After the village of Kobling, you`ll find the show bee hut at the forest edge. Now the trail follows the stream in the forest (great waterwheel). After crossing, continue uphill on the forest and meadow path. At Premserhügel rest area you`ll find some benches - again built in honeycomb shape. Here you can enjoy superb views of the Bohemian Forest all the ways to the Alps. The name of well-known mountain peaks is described on the panorama board. The mascot`s name is Carni. Tells amazing facts about bees. It tells us in exciting terms what the bees`body looks like, where they live, what they look like in the beehive and what they do in winter. Carni explains the dance of the bees.

Der Rundweg beginnt am Marktplatz in St. Martin i. M. Nahe dem Schulcampus steht das Infohaus Biene, in Form einer Bienenwabe gebaut. Mehrere Kurzfilme zeigen Ausschnitte aus dem Leben von Honig-, Wildbienen und Insekten. Im gläsernen Bienenstock können die Honigsammler gefahrlos beobachtet werden. Nach dem Dorf Kobling steht am Waldrand die Schau-Bienenhütte. Nun geht`s im Wald den Bach entlang (tolles Wasserrad). Nach der Querung folgt der Anstieg auf Wald- und Wiesenweg. Am Rastplatz Premserhügel warten Ruhebänke - wieder in Wabenform gebaut. Hier öffnet sich ein grandioser Ausblick vom Böhmerwald bis zu den Alpen. Der Name bekannter Bergspitzen ist auf der Panoramatafel beschrieben. Carni heißt das Maskottchen. Erzählt Erstaunliches über Bienen. Spannend berichtet sie, wie der Bienenkörper aussieht, wie sie leben, wie es im Stock aussieht und was sie im Winter machen. Carni erklärt den Tanz der Bienen und warum Bienen manchmal stechen und gibt Tipps, was nach einem Stich zu tun ist.
