During this nature/culture hike the attentive hiker will find many evidence of the eventful past of the Traun.
Be it the salt transport, which has left interesting traces. With weirs, Klausen or the Treppelweg. But also numerous mills lined the banks of the Traun on both sides. Some still exist and of some there are still relics to be seen today. With Hans Gebetsroithner, the Gmundner Traun gained a legendary reputation as a first-class fly water and the fly fishing elite of the time gathered here. On our tour you can visit interesting fishing spots like: KW Theresienthal, Grüner Turm, Sauschneider Stein, Forellenloch, Zwergerlsitz and Hagerwiese can be discovered and you will also pass by the former meeting place of the fishing celebrities, the Gasthof/Hotel Marienbrücke. The way back from Oberweis leads "Along the horse-drawn railroad", a theme trail with interesting information boards, past the Engelhof railroad station (this is considered the oldest railroad station on the European mainland and was built in 1834) and the former Annastrasse station building (freight magazine) over the Traunbrücke bridge to the town center. Starting point, the town hall square Gmunden (km 10.6).
