    Bavarian-Austrian Marienweg (pilgrimage) from Altötting to Mariazell

    Alpin variant from St. Gilgen to Ebensee (57 km bzw. 66 km)

    St. Gilgen – Falkenstein – St. Wolfgang – Schwarzensee – Weißenbach am Attersee (22 km)
    Weißenbach am Attersee – Schoberstein – Gaissalm – Hochleckenhaus (15 km)
    Hochleckenhaus – Grünalmkogel – Riederhütte – Feuerkogel – Seilbahn to Ebensee, oder footpath to Ebensee (20 bzw. 29 km)

    Pilgrimage on long-distance alpine hiking trails from Altötting to Mariazell

    This alpine variant follows the onward hiking trail 06 and partly the European long-distance hiking trail E4 and can be mastered in three days, but requires good weather and fitness! Alternatively, you can start from St. Wolfgang. From here it's two days to Ebensee!

    Day 1: From St. Gilgen (545 m) over the Falkenstein (796 m) to St. Wolfgang (549 m). From there the path goes over the Kalvarienberg and the Sattlweg to the Schwarzensee (716 m), where we first come on the Eisenauweg and then on the E4 over the Valerieweg through the moat to Burgbachau (479 m) on the Attersee. Continue on the Attersee-Ostwanderweg via Burgau to Weissenbach am Attersee (479 m).
    Day 2: From Weißenbach am Attersee ascent to the Schoberstein (1,037 m) and high-altitude hike via Brennerin (1,559 m) and Gaissalm (1,510) to the Hochleckenhaus (1,574 m).
    Day 3: From the Hochleckenhaus over the Grünalmkogel (1,821 m) to the Riederhütte (1,752 m) and on to the Feuerkogel (1,592 m). From the Feuerkogel we can take the cable car directly to Ebensee, or we can walk down to the Kranabethhütte via the Naturfreundehaus to Ebensee am Traunsee (443 m).
