Wallern foundation path

Set off on a journey - to discover beautiful and interesting facts about Wallern.
Wallern - first mentioned in a document in 815 - is one of the oldest communities in the district of Grieskirchen. The 8-station circular trail shows the history of the founding of the community, the special focus on ecumenism, economic aspects and a wide range of leisure activities. Embedded in a gentle hilly landscape and crossed by the Trattnach river, an excursion to our beautiful municipality is a special experience for the whole family.

Station 1: On the occasion of the 1200th anniversary celebrations in Wallern, the market town, in cooperation with the Wallern Cultural Circle, designed the foundation trail, which provides interesting insights and views of Wallern past and present.
Station 2: The first documented mention of a Catholic church in Wallern dates back to 815.
Station 3: The Franzosenkapelle chapel dates back to 1848.
Station 4: Created in 1994, the Trattnachtal nature trail is a beautiful excursion destination.
Station 5: In 2003, a new relief channel was created here to protect the population from flooding. From here you can enjoy a great view of the Trattnachtal "Landl".
Station 6: Founded in 1997 and extended in 1999-2000, the Wallern local history museum provides an impressive overview of the historical activities and work of the people of Wallern.
Station 7: In 1987, Wallern was voted the "most beautiful village in Upper Austria". The flower park has been preserved as a permanent facility with a beautiful playground.
Station 8: In 1782, public Protestant church services are allowed to take place again following the Tolerance Patent. In 1783 the vicarage is built and in 1784 a house of prayer. The Evangelical Trinity Church as it can be seen today was consecrated in 1852.
