Set out to learn beautiful and interesting facts about Wallern.
Wallern - first mentioned in a document in 815 - is one of the oldest communities in the district of Grieskirchen. The 8-station circular route shows the founding history of the community, the special focus on ecumenism, economic aspects and a wide range of leisure activities. Embedded in a gentle hilly landscape crossed by the Trattnach River, an excursion to our beautiful community is a special experience for the whole family. Station 1: On the occasion of the 1200 year celebration in Wallern, the market community in cooperation with the cultural circle of Wallern designed the foundation path, which gives interesting insights and views of Wallern once and now.
Station 2: The first documented mention of a Catholic church in Wallern dates back to the year 815.
Station 3: The Franzosenkapelle dates back to 1848.
Station 4: Designed in 1994, the Trattnachtal nature trail is a beautiful destination for excursions.
Station 5: In 2003, a new spillway was built here to protect the population from flooding. From here you can enjoy a great Trattnachtal "Landl" view.
Station 6: Founded in 1997 and expanded in 1999-2000, the Wallern Museum of Local History presents an impressive overview of the historical activities and works of the people of Wallern.
Station 7: In 1987 Wallern was elected "Most beautiful village of Upper Austria". The flower park remained as a permanent facility with a beautiful playground.
Station 8: In 1782, after the Tolerance Patent, public Protestant services were allowed to take place again. In 1783 the parsonage is built and in 1784 a prayer house. The Evangelical Trinity Church as seen today was consecrated in 1852.
