Description:
Lake Borsee with the Schleifenbachklause can be reached from below via Schönau and from above from the Niglalm/Viehtaleralm and the Bärenkogel.

Trail number: 498

Directions:
From Schönau:

At the beginning the trail leads comfortably along the Schleifenbach and gradually somewhat steeper up to the Borsee. In the upper area, the trail leads through the romantic gorge with impressive views of the Schleifenbach, which lies 100 meters below.

From Lake Borsee, the trail continues via the Kogleralm (hunting lodge) to the Bärenkogel and the Niglalm/Viehtaleralm.

From the Niglalm:

We cross the alpine meadows and climb slightly uphill on a draw path. In early summer you can find many rare orchids on these alpine meadows. We leave the soon reached forest road again after a few meters, the signposted hiking trail leads off the forest road through green woods. After a short ascent, the trail goes slightly downhill again. Halfway you reach the hunting lodge Kogleralm and from there you continue across the wild meadow to the northern shore of Lake Borsee.

Once at Lake Borsee, you should take enough time to walk around it and visit the Schleifenbachklause on the south shore. Then take the same path back to the Niglalm or continue hiking on the forest road along the Schleifenbach to Schönau.

Tip:
It is recommended to extend this hike to the Schüttbauernalm.
