How to get to the Almtal (to Grünau im Almtal):
We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train: from Wels train station with the Almtalbahn (line 153) to Grünau im Almtal;
Numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the western line (line 101).
by bus: OÖVV bus line 533 Almsee - Grünau - Gmunden
If you only want to walk half the way, we recommend that you take the Traunstein Taxi Route 60, e.g. from the Enzenbach / Bergstrasse Farrenau stop, back to Grünau station. Please call the taxi center at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 1691 or order on the otaxi app. The route is operated every half hour after registration.
by foot: From the Grünau train station in the Almtal, you can comfortably walk over the Almsteg and past the inn "Die Almwirtinnen" to the starting point of the hike. Walking time from the train station to the starting point is approx. 5 minutes.
by bicycle:
On the Almtalradweg R11 to Grünau im Almtal, it is best to leave your bike at Grünau im Almtal station.
by car:
Motorway A1 (Westautobahn): Vienna - Voralpenkreuz-A9 - exit Ried / Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau
Motorway A1 (Westautobahn): Munich - Salzburg - Regau - Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau
Motorway A8 (Innkreisautobahn) Passau - Wels - Voralpenkreuz A9 (Pyhrnautobahn) - exit Ried / Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau
You can park in the center of Grünau either at the car park at the outdoor pool, at the train station or at the sports field (parking spaces are signposted).
The signposted parking spaces at the outdoor pool and at the sports field are free.
