How to get to the Almtal (to Pettenbach im Almtal):

We recommend that you travel by public transport!

by train: from Wels station take the Almtalbahn (line 153) in the direction of Grünau im Almtal to Pettenbach station
numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101)
It is an additional 3 kilometers from the train station to the starting point of the hike.

By bus:
OÖVV bus line 480 Kirchdorf a.d. Krems - Steinbach a.Zbg. - Pettenbach; stop Pettenbach Stapfen, the starting point of the hike is approx. 3 kilometers further.
OÖVV bus route 456 Kirchdorf/Kr. (- Schlierbach) - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Viechtwang; bus stop Pettenbach Etzelsdorf, the starting point of the hike is approx. 2.3 kilometers further.


with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 70 coming from Vorchdorf or Scharnstein, please call the cab center at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 and order.

Bike & Hike, arrival by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or from Gmunden R 4 Traunradweg or from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt on the R 6 Römerradweg to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting in the direction of Vorchdorf Einsiedling.
Continue via the cycle connection briefly on the R 11 Almtalradweg to the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg (coming from Schlierbach) via Pettenbach up to Magdalenaberg.

by car:
Westautobahn A1: Vienna - Voralpenkreuz-A9 or Inntalautobahn A8 Passau - Wels - Voralpenkreuz A9 - exit Ried/Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach -
Westautobahn A1: Munich - Salzburg - Vorchdorf - Pettenbach
on the B120 in the direction of Scharnstein, turn off Seisenburgstraße to the Dörfl parking lot for the Seisenburg. From there it is approx. 1 km on foot to the starting point or you can begin the tour at the parking lot and start from there.
