From the Almtalerhütte it goes through a wide variety of landscapes. You overcome rugged rocks, streams and finally end up at the Welser Hütte.

Wonderful mountain hike with small climbing passages through the rear Hetzau in the mountaineering village of Grünau im Almtal!
From the Welser Hütte there are numerous possibilities to start a mountain tour:
e.g. Großer Priel, Tassilo via ferrata Schermberg, Temlberg, the Ausseerweg in the direction of Pühringer Hütte and in the direction of Ausseerland (Gößl am Grundlsee), in the direction of Hinterstoder
the Welser Höhenweg - Welser variant via the Pühringer Hütte, Hans-Appel-Haus - Schönberg - Ischlerhütte - on to Bad Ischl

Both huts are managed by AV Wels.

How to get to Grünau im Almtal:

We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train:
From Wels train station take the Almtalbahn (line 153) to Grünau im Almtal;
Numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101) to Vienna/Linz or Salzburg and to Passau (line 150).

continue by bus or SKGT shuttle service, but also possible on foot

by bus:
OÖVV bus line 533 Gmunden - Scharntein - Grünau im Almtal train station and back
OÖVV bus route 534 Grünau im Almtal train station - Cumberland Wildpark - Almsee and return - Habernau stop

with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 60 from Grünau train station to the Almtalerhaus stop (only possible from May 1st to September 14th), call the cab center at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 and order.

Bike & Hike, arrival by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 11 Almtalradweg via Pettenbach, Viechtwang to Grünau im Almtal. Or via the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or coming from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting in the direction of Vorchdorf Einsiedling. Continue via the short cycle connection on the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg to the R 11 Almtalradweg via Pettenbach and Viechtwang to Grünau im Almtal
Also the cycle connection on the Traunviertel tour from Gmunden via St. Konrad and Scharnstein to Grünau im Almtal, continue in the direction of Almsee following the cycle path or MTB route signs, at the Habernau junction in the direction of Almtalerhaus. Here too, it is only possible to ride to the Almtalerhaus from May 1st to September 14th. Access to the entrance is not permitted!

on foot:
From Grünau or Ortstentrum train station on stage 4 of the Almuferweg to the Habernau junction, then in the direction of the Almtalerhaus. From the junction, you can also follow the signs for the Welser Höhenweg.

By car:
From Vienna on the A1 Westautobahn to Voralpenkreuz and from Passau on the A8 Innkreisautobahn - via Wels to Voralpenkreuz on the A9 Pyhrnautobahn - exit Ried/Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach bypass - continue on the B120 to Scharnstein - Mühldorf junction on the main road to Grünau im Almtal
From Munich via Salzburg on the A1 Westautobahn to the Regau exit, continue on the B145 to Gmunden, also coming from Bad Ischl on the B145 to Gmunden - continue on the B120 to Scharnstein - take the Mühldorf junction on the main road to Grünau im Almtal, continue towards Almsee, at the Habernau junction towards Almtalerhaus. Here too, it is only possible to drive to the Almtalerhaus from May 1 to September 14.

Parking is available for overnight guests at the Welser Hütte.
