The Schwarzkogel in the Limestone Alps National Park is a well-worn short mid-winter tour with a beautiful view of the Haller walls.
From the car park at the pass of the stallion pass we go towards Black Mountain. Let the Spitzenbergalm are left and go into the ditch. Go on the left side of the valley below the forest along until it ends and a meadow on the top of mountain Riedel ( Crest) is visible. Now left the slope in bends upwards to go on the back. Go right along the ridge at the top flat, later becoming steeper high. At the edge of the forest not too far to the left beyond cross - Snow board Danger! Finally, you go through the woods just to the right on the lower summit ( Tannschwärze ) with a summit cross. The main peak is usually not climbed in winter.From Windischgarsten you go to Rosenau and on to the Hengstpaß. Shortly before the pass on the right the large car park opposite the hut Zickerreith.
