The Braunedl is the most dominant mountain in the south east of the Postalm plateau and is popular because of its superb downhill runs. Ascents:
a) From the Postalm plateau via the western face, 2 hours. Steep but beautiful ascent with danger of avalanche.
From the lower car park, a moderate climb follows the overhead power lines in a southeasterly direction to the memorial cross on the Moosbergsattel. If the Gschlößl ski lift is working you can also get to the Moosbergsattel by going downhill in an easterly direction from the top station, followed by a short climb.
From there on, there are several possible ways to ascend over the western slope and the most recommended are detailed below: from the saddle go upwards in a southerly direction to a distinctive trench. Cross over this and after approximately 100 m, go up left through a sparsely wooded area which leads to an area of dwarf mountain pines (not visible in deep snow) then up to the ridge. Stay left for a short while to the summit cross.

b) From the Postalm Plateau via “the Sill” 2 - 2 ½ hours.
A steep ascent with danger of avalanche which should only be undertaken in favourable conditions.
From the youth hostel on the Postalm plateau, go over a bridge and turn immediately left in a south easterly direction and climb up via a track to the huts on the west of the Einberg Mountain plateau. Continue on the level in an easterly direction to the huts at the far end of the plateau. Uphill once more in a southeasterly direction through a wood into a corrie “the Sill” which starts flat, but is later very steep and leads to “the Sill” saddle. This is between the Scharfen Mountain (to your left) and Braunedl Mountain.
The summit cross is reached from the Saddle by way of the very steep east ridge.

Descents:
A) Via the western slope to the Postalm plateau: a steep but very popular run (several
possible routes).
From the summit along the top ridge in a southerly direction into a flat saddle, then down to the right to a rise until you can cross into a trough to the left. Go into the trough almost to its end, stay right, thus reaching the memorial cross on the Moosbergsattel. From there go northwards, first over flat fields then later on the piste to the Postalm car park.
b) Via “the Sill” to the Postalm plateau: only advisable in favourable conditions (firn snow).
From the summit, descend via the steep eastern slope down to the Sill saddle, stay left and the corrie, “the Sill”, is reached by way of an escarpment. Now more gently downhill in the corrie whereby the huts on the eastern side of the Einberg plateau are reached by staying left. The mountain road leads to the Postalm car park.
