From the starting point, walk through the town centre, to the right of the main church (Stadtpfarrkirche) until just before the bus terminal by the entrance to Kaiservilla and turn left onto the Rechensteg. Shortly after the car park, cross the bridge over the Ischl to Jainzendorfstraße.
After a few minutes turn left and walk down to the River Ischl. From here follow the gravel path along the river towards Pfandl. In Pfandl cross the main road at the traffic lights (by the bus stop) and continue on the path along the riverside, following the river upstream. A few metres after crossing a bridge over the river Ischl (on the main road by a bus stop), take the next side street left, then the next right to the Gasthof zur Wacht (bus stop).Here we leave the town of Bad Ischl and follow the signs "Bachweg - Strobl 18".
