Climbing area Schafluckenwand

Starting place: 4853 Steinbach am Attersee
Destination: 4853 Steinbach am Attersee

The Schafluckenwand is a demanding climbing area in the Höllengebirge.

Characteristics
The striking wall, located to the right of the Schafluckensteig trail as you ascend, can be climbed via the “Höllentrip,” a long, challenging 10-pitch route that places high demands on strength and endurance. The route is well-protected with 10-mm bolts. From the top, it is possible to descend on foot back to the hiking trail on the Brunnkogel. The wall faces ESE and is in the sun until noon.

Approach:
From the Hinterer Langbathsee (accessible from the Vorderer Langbathsee or from the parking lot at the Großalm inn in Altmünster via the Hohe Lueg on hiking trail No. 828), follow the Schafluckensteig. After crossing forested and scree-covered terrain, this trail reaches the Schafluckenwand, which rises to the right. Where the trail makes a sharp left turn, branch off to the south toward the base of the wall. To the right, you’ll see a cave with two large trees in front of it and a boulder slightly below. This is where the route begins.
