Description: Since December 3, 2024, the footpath into the Hallstatt high valley has been closed until the opening of the Salzberg cable car in 2026.
Safe access is no longer possible due to the weather conditions.
You can walk from the centre of Hallstatt to the Salzberg in 45 - 60 minutes;
World view
On arrival at the Salzberg, you can visit the Salzwelten and admire the view from the viewing platform, the so-called Skywalk. From the Skywalk, you can view the beautiful Hallstatt Valley from above.
Central entrance to the trail
The trail starts right in the centre of Hallstatt or at the valley station of the Salzberg cable car. A steeply ascending path zigzags up to the Salzberg where a breathtaking view over the village, the lake and the surrounding mountains awaits you.

by train:
arriving at "train station Hallstatt", take the ferry to Hallstatt, from the Pier you walk 20 minutes
by bus:
you arrive at the busterminal "Hallstatt Lahn", from there it is a five minute walk
