Tour to the Gritstone Quarries

This beautiful hike leads you to the Gritstone Quarries. From there you can start the "tour through the Löckernmoos".
After approx. 1 hour 30 minutes of hiking, you will reach the historic grinding stone quarries. For a long time, they were one of the most important sources of income for the Gosau population at 1350 m above sea level. This tradition has been preserved to this day and is an important part of Gosau's history.Every Tuesday, the Gosau slow train runs to the grindstone quarries. With hiking guide Betty, you have the opportunity to get to know the unique Löckernmoos with its small moor lake and enjoy stunning views of the Gosaukamm.

By car
from Salzburg:
Highway exit Golling - Abtenau, Rußbach, Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Linz:
Regau highway exit - Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Vienna/Graz:
Liezen highway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Aussee, continue on the B145 towards Bad Goisern, take the B166 ramp to Golling/Gosau/Obertraun/Hallstatt/Bad Goisern-Süd, turn right at the Gosaumühle junction towards Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Villach:
Tauernautobahn to exit "Eben im Pongau", via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße to Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
By train
Route Attnang-Puchheim - Stainach-Irdning
Arrival by train in "Steeg / Gosau" then continue by bus 541 in the direction of Gosaumühle, change to bus 542 in the direction of Gosausee
By bus (Sundays irregular):
Bus 470 (Abtenau - Gosau) direction Gosau, bus stop Gosau Abzw. Pass Gschütt
change to bus 542 direction Gosausee, get off at the bus stop "Hornspitzlift".
