There is a circular trail around this beautiful mountain lake. Its a natural spectacle for the whole family. At the lake you have a beautiful view to the "Gosaukamm".

Löckensee in Gosau was voted the most beautiful spot in Upper Austria! And it truly is! But be warned! You really have to earn this view with a brisk hike!
You can reach the Löckenmoos on foot from Gosau in 2 to 3 hours. There are several routes to the summit:
Mittertal: On the opposite side of the Hotel Sommerhof, Schäffergasse leads uphill. At the end of the street, at the edge of the forest, hiking trail 511 to Löckenmoos begins. IMPORTANT!!! You’ll find parking spaces right next to the main road—Hornspitz lift parking lot
Hintertal: Start at the Hintertal forest road. Then switch to hiking trail 644, which also takes 2 to 3 hours to reach Löckenmoos.
The hiking trails offer beautiful walks along well-marked paths through the forest. Appropriate hiking gear, such as sturdy, supportive footwear, is required.
A shuttle bus (for groups of 4 or more) or the Gosau Scenic Train (for groups) to the Schleifstein quarries can be booked with Markus Gamsjäger at +43 664 2042321. You can also book a guided hike along the Löckensee Loop with Betty Jehle at +43 0650 6366177.
Please note that even the available lifts cannot go all the way to Lake Löckensee. There is still a half-hour uphill walk remaining.

By car
from Salzburg:
Highway exit Golling - Abtenau, Rußbach, Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Linz:
Regau highway exit - Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Vienna/Graz:
Liezen highway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Aussee, continue on the B145 towards Bad Goisern, take the B166 ramp to Golling/Gosau/Obertraun/Hallstatt/Bad Goisern-Süd, turn right at the Gosaumühle junction towards Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Villach:
Tauernautobahn to exit "Eben im Pongau", via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße to Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
By train
Route Attnang-Puchheim - Stainach-Irdning
Arrival by train in "Steeg / Gosau" then continue by bus 541 in the direction of Gosaumühle, change to bus 542 in the direction of Gosausee
By bus (Sundays irregular):
Bus 470 (Abtenau - Gosau) direction Gosau, bus stop Gosau Abzw. Pass Gschütt
change to bus 542 direction Gosausee, get off at the bus stop "Hornspitzlift".
Bus 541 (Bad Ischl - Gosaumühle)
