There is a circular trail around this beautiful mountain lake. Its a natural spectacle for the whole family. At the lake you have a beautiful view to the "Gosaukamm".

The Löckensee in Gosau was voted the most beautiful place in Upper Austria! And it is! But watch out! You really have to earn this view with a strenuous hike!
The Löckenmoos can be reached on foot from Gosau in 2 to 3 hours. There are various ascent options:
Mittertal: On the opposite side of the Hotel Sommerhof, Schäffergasse leads up. At the end of the road, at the edge of the forest, hiking trail 511 to Löckenmoos begins. IMPORTANT!!! Parking spaces can be found right next to the main road - Hornspitz lift parking lot
Hintertal: Start at the Hintertal forest road. Then change to hiking trail 644, which will take you to Löckenmoos after 2 to 3 hours of walking.
The hiking trails lead beautifully through the forest on well-marked paths. Appropriate hiking equipment, such as good, sturdy footwear, is required.
The Gosau tourist office will be happy to help you organize a shuttle bus or the Gosau slow train to the grinding stone quarries. A guided hike around the Löckensee circuit can also be booked.
Please note that the lifts on offer do not go as far as the Löckensee. There is still an uphill walk of half an hour.

By car
from Salzburg:
Highway exit Golling - Abtenau, Rußbach, Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Linz:
Regau highway exit - Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Vienna/Graz:
Liezen highway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Aussee, continue on the B145 towards Bad Goisern, take the B166 ramp to Golling/Gosau/Obertraun/Hallstatt/Bad Goisern-Süd, turn right at the Gosaumühle junction towards Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
from Villach:
Tauernautobahn to exit "Eben im Pongau", via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße to Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 2 km you will reach the parking lot at the Hornspitzlift.
By train
Route Attnang-Puchheim - Stainach-Irdning
Arrival by train in "Steeg / Gosau" then continue by bus 541 in the direction of Gosaumühle, change to bus 542 in the direction of Gosausee
By bus (Sundays irregular):
Bus 470 (Abtenau - Gosau) direction Gosau, bus stop Gosau Abzw. Pass Gschütt
change to bus 542 direction Gosausee, get off at the bus stop "Hornspitzlift".
