Industrial history theme path in Ebensee

A tour on the trail of an eventful local history.
The themed trail leads the "history hiker" to many historically interesting sites. Display boards with pictures and short explanations familiarize you with the local history and the work of the people.

From the train stop "Ebensee Landungsplatz", the path leads via the so-called "Herrenstiege" to the Heimathaus/Museum Ebensee and on to the Catholic parish church, past the "Alte Volksschule", which houses a contemporary history museum, through Marktgasse. At the end of the lane you reach the Traun bridge, which you cross and turn right after. Starting upstream on the left bank of the Traun, follow the Offenseeweg past the former Junghans "watch factory" and the former Solvay works. On the crest of the Traun dam, also known as the Traunreiterpromenade, you reach the district of Roith. From there, it is not far to the concentration camp memorial with the exhibition in the underground tunnels, the concentration camp memorial tunnel (only open in summer) and the former camp gate. The historic "Löwengang" ends near the large, stepped quarry of the Gmunden cement works. Leave Alte Traunstraße to the left through the underpass and onto Schwaigerweg to the architecturally interesting industrial building of the abandoned weaving mill, visible from afar. Cross the tracks of the Salzkammergutbahn, which was completed in 1877, to reach the main entrance of the former Solvay works with the old workers' houses. Immediately after the Traun bridge, you turn right onto the Traunuferweg and reach the "Landungsplatz" train stop via Rathausplatz.
