Description: Dear Road Users!

Due to pavement work and utility line repairs, the Marienbrücke bridge will be closed from July 13 to September 4, 2026, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.!

The bridge will be open during the remaining times—that is, all afternoons and all day on weekends!

We appreciate your understanding!

diversion information: The detour for the R4 Traun Bike Path toward Gmunden city center, coming from Laakirchen, starts at the Marienbrücke and follows the bike path along the Herzogmauer, then along the multi-use path to Kliemsteinstraße, turn right onto Linzerstraße until you reach the Traun Bridge, turn right across the bridge, and then turn left before the Trauntor to rejoin the bike path toward Rathausplatz Gmunden or continue toward the R2 Salzkammergut Bike Path.

In the opposite direction, we recommend a short, bike-friendly loop across the Traunbrücke, then turn right onto Schiffslände, then right onto Traunsteinstraße, and immediately left onto Hochmüllergasse, then left onto Annastraße (caution: signal-controlled railroad crossing for the Traunsee tram), continue to the intersection, turn left briefly, then immediately right again to the roundabout, take the 3rd exit and use the shared-use lane on Mühlwang- or Linzerstraße; along the Herzogmauer, we recommend taking the bike path again until the Marienbrücke turnoff, then continue on the shared-use lane toward Laakirchen.

The Traun bike trail is one of the most important north-south routes for cyclists in Upper Austria.

You cycle from the beautiful town hall square in Gmunden am Traunsee along the Traun to the Marienbrücke bridge, then via Laakirchen to Steyrermühl, across the Traun to Ohlsdorf and on to the Traunfall. The route continues towards Stadl-Paura and Lambach with its Benedictine monastery. Via Edt bei Lambach back to the Traun and along the river you continue to Wels. You finally reach your destination in Linz, where the Traun flows into the Danube.

Opening times of the Ottensheim - Wilhering and Abwinden - Asten power station bridges: open for cyclists 24 hours a day, all year round

Marienbrücke pushing section in Gmunden (short pushing section of approx. 100 meters)
In the area of Laakirchen (or Steyrermühl), the route had to be adapted at short notice due to the existing bridge closure and changed for approx. 300 meters along the main road.
We ask for your understanding!
