Starting point: parking Zimnitz (47 ° 43'49 "N - 013 ° 35'01 " E - 540 m), accessible by walk from the centre 2. Directions: From Bad Ischl on the B 158 towards Salzburg In Pfandl at the traffic lights turn right. After 100 m sharply go right and further 40 m sharply to the left on the Zimnitzstraße. 1.5 km straight ahead to the car parking. Endpoint: As a starting point - round trip
Walking time: 3 hours ascent - descent 2 hours 30 minutes Difference in altitude: 1300 m ascent, descent 1300 m Requirements: Challenging alpine tour. Secured wire rope below the summit of the Leonsberg. Sure-footedness is needed throughout!
From the car park follow the forest track (sign at the upper end of the car park) 600 m up to a junction with a signpost. Take the forest path to the right and follow it to the end. After 1.5 kilometres pass through a narrow valley. The trail rises steeply crossing a creek (which is usually dry). Attention: After about 100 m, the trail turns sharply Right! Not straight! Follow the trail to Schüttalm (47 ° 45'00 "N - 013 ° 35'22 " E -1166 m) 1 hour 45 minutes walking time. The alm is a small meadow with a signpost to the left. After 200 metres, the trail goes through the forest, with great views to Ischl and Weißenbachtal. The trail continues upwards. Proceed carefully as the slopes on the left and right of the path are very steep. At an altitude of 1600 metres a steep slope left is bypassed (lifeline) from there it is only about 15 minutes to the summit of Leonsberg (47 ° 45'17 "N - 013 ° 34'09 " E - 1745 m). The trail in a southerly direction to Gartenzinken takes almost an hour to complete (47 ° 44'26 "N - 013 ° 33'37 " E - 1557 m). The trail is up and down and always close to the ridge (The ridge is often covered with snow until June) from Gartenzinken to Latschen to the southeast (do not descend southwest!) down to Walkerskogl (1243 m), a small elevation in the burr profile. Be careful on the next small steep section in the descent path before returning to the forest. The trail descends back to the valley reaching the paved Zimnitzstraße. From here it is 200 metres to the left to return to the starting point.
