Big Sonnstein in Ebensee

The big "Sonnstein", also called "Ebenseer Sonnstein" offers with his abprupt clipping to the lake "Traunsee" a great view and is reachable in a short time.



The way starts at the church of Ebensee. There you have to go up broad stairs through the housing estate of the "Bartlberg". At the border of the wood, the way diverts up to the "Sonnstein". You have to go uphill through a wood before you leave the last wood and nearly reach the summit. But don´t forget to have a break on your way. There are comfortable benches to sit down and relaxe for a certain time. At the summit you can enjoy a breathtaking view across the "Traunsee" area. If you want to continue with your hike, you can take the way to the small or also called "Traunkirchner Sonnstein". Before you reach the summit of the big "Sonnstein" the way diverts and leads across cliff stairs safeguarded by steel cables. But really take care of you by taking this difficult way. It will take you one hour to reach the small "Sonnstein".
