Hiking trail to the scarps of the Schwarzenbergischer Schwemmkanals (Schwarzenberg log flume).
0 km You start the hike at the St. Oswald parking lot. Leave the village in an easterly direction and walk along the field path in the direction of the forest. Meet with steep path no. 78 coming from Haslach. Downhill through the short forest section. Now you come across the impressive
1.2 km steep section of the Schwarzenberg alluvial canal - the "Steilstufe". With a thunderous roar, the logs fell down here at the time of snowmelt in the river bed bedded with granite blocks. It was one of the most dangerous places for the loggers who worked here. If the logs got wedged here, the following logs were often thrown meters high into the air.
On the right you can see an old boundary stone, which was set during the mapping and demarcation of the border under
Joseph II in 1788. Uphill, on a 600 m long stretch, you follow the magnificent construction of the century. At the
2.0 km rest area the "Steilstufenweg Große Runde", which leads to Haslach, leaves us. However, we continue uphill, through the forest and arrive at the
3,2 km border crossing St. Oswald. Here you will see the sculpture "Connect it". However, you do not cross the border and continue to the left. Pass the former customs house. Now it's always downhill. At
3,7 km Galgenberg turn right down the path, back to the starting point in
4,3 km St. Oswald
